First time solo traveling to Ireland

On this occasion, one of our star travelers, Flavia Cornejo, shares with us a little about her first visit to Ireland accompanied by Andreia, one of our best Greeters in Dublin.
Q&A with Flavia Cornejo
Give us a brief introduction about yourself (what you do, where you're from, etc.).
I'm Flavia, a first generation Peruvian American Latina who loves to travel solo. I'm a travel blogger and content creator on a mission to inspire more Latinas and Women of Color to travel solo by giving them the confidence they need to go for it.
How did you start as a digital creator?
It wasn't even on purpose. I just always loved sharing info about. my trips and people would always ask me more questions.
What do you think is the best part of traveling alone?
Flexibility to do whatever I want and be able to decide at any moment.
What's been the hardest part of traveling alone?
Having dinner alone. It's true, even with the amount of times I travel solo I genuinely don't like having dinner alone cause as a Latina it's always been family time.
What did you think about Greether before your first Greether experience?

I only knew what I saw on Instagram but it seemed like a welcoming community and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
What did you think about Greether after your first Greether experience?
Lived up to the welcoming community part! It didn't feel forced at all but so natural and I loved that.
Can you tell us about your meet and Greether experience? What did Andreia and you do during your time in Dublin and how was it helpful for you to have her as a contact?
Since Andreia and I had connected prior to our meeting on Instagram, when we met it flowed nicely. We first met for a coffee to make sure things did flow as well and to kind of break the ice. From there we started walking along the river and ended going to the EPIC museum. Prior to meeting Andreia I had been on the fence of visiting (the museum) because I wasn't fully sure if it would be of too much interest to me. Andreia had said she had visited before and convinced me to go in. I'm glad she did! I loved getting the passport and stamping it at the end of every room. It felt like traveling within the museum. We had a great time learning about Irish immigration.
Andreia let me know prior to meeting and even after that I could message her with any questions I had or for suggestions. She suggested I visit Howth, which is about 30 minutes outside of Dublin. Originally she was going to come with me, but unfortunately she wasn't feeling too well that day so I ventured on my own. She did tell me places to visit and what I could do during my visit. Even though we didn't spend my whole trip together, it was nice knowing I had someone there to text or meet up with.
What do you wish you knew before you became a Traveler? What surprised you?
That everyone has different travel styles and it can cause problems at times.
Do you have any tips for women that want to travel alone for the first time?
Start somewhere that you'll feel comfortable. You don't need to go thousands of miles away from home to travel. You can travel by going to the next city over. Start local and expands from there.
What made you trust Greether?
The openness I experienced through DMs made me feel like I was getting to know a person and not just a brand.

Danos una breve introducción sobre ti (a qué te dedicas, de dónde eres, etc.).
Soy Flavia, una latina peruana-estadounidense de primera generación a la que le encanta viajar sola. Soy una bloguera de viajes y creadora de contenido con la misión de inspirar a más latinas y mujeres de color a viajar solas, brindándoles la confianza que necesitan para hacerlo.
¿Cómo empezaste como creadora digital?
Ni siquiera fue a propósito. Siempre me ha encantado compartir información sobre. mis viajes y la gente siempre me hacía más preguntas.
¿Cuál crees que es la mejor parte de viajar sola?
Flexibilidad para hacer lo que quiera y poder decidir en cualquier momento.
¿Qué ha sido lo más difícil de viajar solo?
Cenando solo. Es cierto, incluso con la cantidad de veces que viajo sola, realmente no me gusta cenar sola porque, como latina, siempre ha sido un momento familiar.
¿Qué pensabas sobre Greether antes de tu primera experiencia con Greether?
Solo sabía lo que vi en Instagram, pero parecía una comunidad acogedora y sabía que quería ser parte de ella.
¿Qué pensaste sobre Greether después de tu primera experiencia con Greether?

¡Estuvo a la altura de la parte acogedora de la comunidad! No se sintió forzado en absoluto, pero tan natural y eso me encantó.
¿Puedes contarnos sobre tu experiencia con Meet and Greether? ¿Qué hicieron Andreia y tú durante tu estadía en Dublín y cómo fue útil para ti tenerla como contacto?
Dado que Andreia y yo nos habíamos conectado antes de nuestra reunión en Instagram, cuando nos conocimos fluyó muy bien. Primero nos reunimos para tomar un café para asegurarnos de que las cosas fluyeran también y para romper el hielo. A partir de ahí empezamos a caminar junto al río y acabamos yendo al museo EPIC. Antes de conocer a Andreia, había estado cerca de visitarlo (el museo) porque no estaba completamente segura de si sería de mucho interés para mí. Andreia había dicho que lo había visitado antes y me convenció de entrar. ¡Me alegro de que lo haya hecho! Me encantó conseguir el pasaporte y sellarlo al final de cada habitación. Se sentía como viajar dentro del museo. Nos lo pasamos genial aprendiendo sobre la inmigración irlandesa.
Andreia me avisó antes de que nos reuniéramos e incluso después de eso, que podía enviarle un mensaje con cualquier pregunta que tuviera o para sugerencias. Me sugirió que visitara Howth, que está a unos 30 minutos de Dublín. Originalmente iba a venir conmigo, pero desafortunadamente no se sentía muy bien ese día, así que me aventuré por mi cuenta. Que todo el mundo tiene diferentes estilos de viaje y puede causar problemas a veces.
¿Tienes algún consejo para las mujeres que quieren viajar solas por primera vez?
Comience en algún lugar donde se sienta cómodo. No es necesario alejarse miles de kilómetros de su hogar para viajar. Puedes viajar yendo a la siguiente ciudad. Comience localmente y expanda desde allí.
¿Qué te hizo confiar en Greether?
La apertura que experimenté a través de los DM me hizo sentir que estaba conociendo a una persona y no solo a una marca.
