Booking a Greeter for the First Time in Estonia & why you should do it too!
Have you recently discovered Greether and are considering booking one of their trusted Greeters for your travels? After going on a fun tour in Estonia with Greether, it is worth making a reservation for your next trip!
Learning About Greether for the First Time
Recently, I wrote another blog post for Greether about getting started as a solo female traveler and how I discovered Greether while working for another organization called Nomads Giving Back.
That day, I learned that Greether is a fantastic company that matches female travelers and Greeters worldwide to create safety and community.
I even remember wishing I had a community like Greether when I first started solo traveling in 2017. If I had been able to lean on established communities like Greether back then, I would have been less afraid to go around certain cities if I had someone to guide me.
Booking My First Greeter This Summer
When I got the opportunity to travel this summer, I booked my first Greeter in Tallinn, Estonia, with the help of a discount I received after winning first prize in Greether's Travel Horror Stories Halloween contest.
My Greeter, Yumna, was kind enough to meet me close to my Airbnb, and from there we started exploring Tallinn.
“If you're considering booking a Greeter for your next journey, I can tell you firsthand that it's worth it. Walking around with Yumna through Tallinn made me feel more comfortable exploring the city because I had someone to guide me and teach me about Estonian culture.”

Since Estonia has a thriving startup culture, it was intriguing to hear Yumna talk about her startup and show me the coworking space where she works in Tallinn. In Estonia, 1,444 startups are registered in the Estonian Startup Database as of February 17 of this year, which continues to grow yearly.
We then journeyed to Tallinn's well-preserved medieval Old Town by tram, a historic landmark designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Yumna excitedly brought us to a charming cafe close to the main square in the Old Town, at which point we stopped to have some delicious coffee and tea.
After sipping our drinks and chatting about daily life in Estonia, we walked to the Kohtuotsa Viewing Platform, one of the highest points in the Old Town, to get a nice view of Tallinn. While admiring the city from our high vantage point, we ran into a talented musician playing an instrument called Nyckelharpa, which has Swedish origins.
Continuing our city-wide journey, we walked to Tallinna Linnahall for a picturesque seascape of Tallinn Bay, one of the best landmarks to enjoy sunsets in Tallinn. It is an excellent place for locals and tourists to have lunch or a photo shoot in Tallinn.
For the final stop on our tour, we took a tram close to Yumna's coworking space for food and some ice cream at one of Yumna’s favorite ice cream shops in Tallinn, La Muu.
Overall, the tour was fun and eye-opening, and Yumna, who was so kind that I now consider her a friend, was an excellent Greeter, having shared all her knowledge about Tallinn.
If you're considering booking a Greeter for your next journey, I can tell you firsthand that it's worth it. Walking around with Yumna through Tallinn made me feel more comfortable exploring the city because I had someone to guide me and teach me about Estonian culture.
So what are you waiting for? Book a Greeter for your next trip to get an exciting, well-rounded tour experience the next time you travel!
