Celebrating 2 Years of Helping Women Travel Safer!
Last Saturday, October 18th, Greether’s team celebrated its 2nd year anniversary in three different cities and three different countries with the goal of connecting our community, having some of our travelers share their experiences and make new friendships. The San Francisco event started with an unexpected twist: The sunny weather desired for the planned activities was replaced by clouds that covered the entire city with rain. However, Greether's founder and CEO, Vanessa Karel, acted fast, and the event was relocated to the Italian neighborhood in North Beach, where the 12 attendees were warmly welcomed. They engaged in conversations about travel, global destinations, and participated in the Greether trivia for a chance to win gift cards to use on their future trips. Alongside Vanessa were two awesome co-hosts: The incredible Cindy Medina, Co-founder of Travel Latina and the amazing creator Stefany Hernandez from Wandering Stefany and COO to Latinx Travel Club. Women from various parts of the bay area attended and shared incredible stories, such as Vanina, an argentine expat who discovered Greether through a news broadcast and Raquel Avalos, an airline employee turned travel blogger.
Meanwhile, about 3,000 km away, the Mexico City meetup, hosted by the marketing team, was taking place. Although this event wasn't affected by weather changes, it began with a certain level of nervousness. Despite having everything planned, the hosts weren't sure how many girls would show up. However, as the first guest arrived, the rest followed!. The meetup was filled with laughter, exchanging travel plans, and anecdotes such as the ones from Fany Cherrys who graciously shared her fantastic experiences using Greether in two countries and exploring the cities of Seoul in South Korea and Tokyo, Japan with the guidance of Greeters. In addition to engaging conversations, the guests participated in the Greether trivia and a tote bag design competition, where three travelers took home gift cards for their next experiences.
In Edinburgh, our star Greeter, Shirin, our ambassador Chris Davila, and the incredible traveler Leila met. They toured the city together and discovered Edinburgh's local gems.
"The most valuable part of this meetup was connecting with other female travelers and experiencing the city from a local perspective. Booking a Greether at the beginning of your trip gives you an idea of what you'd like to explore and return to." - Chris Davila
These three events were the perfect showcase of everything Greether has been building over the past two years: a space where women can find empowerment through travel and connections with other women. It was the perfect way to celebrate this anniversary and set the stage for the upcoming year, during which Greether will continue to create spaces where female travelers can have someone they can trust wherever they go and make friendships along the way.
Hope to see you on the next one!
